The Town Hall in the centre of Subotica, which is the symbol of the city, is considered for the most beautiful building in the area.
The Town Hall, which is a romantic mixture of Art Nouveau and Hungarian Folk Art, was built in 1912 by the design of architects Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab from Budapest. The tower of the building with an area of almost 6000 m2 is 76 m high, while its look-out is at 46 m height, offering a beautiful view of the city and its surroundings. From its three halls, the conference hall is open for visitors, which is decorated with 16 colourful stained-glass windows, designed by the painter Sándor Nagy and made by Miska Róth mosaic artist. The harmony of Zsolnay ceramics, goldsmiths’ works of floral patterns and various artistic styles provide an exceptional sight. The meetings of the local parliament are held here, as well as concerts and weddings. The building is the seat of many institutions and organisations (Mayor's Office, Historical Archives and others).
