Thanks to the environment offered by the lake and art nouveau architecture, Palić is one of the most popular resorts in Vojvodina.
The lake and the surrounding park are 8 kilometres from Subotica. Its unique atmosphere is due to the combination of natural values and architectural heritage. The shallow, steppe-like lake was formed in the last ice age, and the healing effect of its water was discovered in the 19th century. Palić Spa had become really famous during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. There are several architectural masterpieces in the park next to the lake, such as the Water Tower, symbol of Palić, which was designed by Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab. Here is also the Lujza Villa, the Music Pavilion and the Owl’s Tower, which was designed for the participants of the first Palić Olympics, which are considered for the forerunner of the modern Olympic Games. The picturesque lake shore has become a venue for many events.
