National Theatre “Sterija” in Vršac

The theatre of Vršac has its own theatre company, however there have also been several guest performances by foreign theatre companies from Austria, Hungary, Romania, Italy and Germany performing in the theatre.

The theatre life in Vrsac has been thriving for more than two centuries now. The Great Serbian Magistrate was built in 1761 and for a hundread years it served its purpose as the theatre hall. The first two plays that were performed in the theatre were by a company from Timisoara around 1770. The theatre of Vrsac has its own theatre company, however there have also been several guest performances by foreign theatre companies from Austria, Hungary, Romania, Italy and Germany performing in the theatre.
