International Corn Festival in Kanjiža

The maize festival in Kanjiža is held every year at the beginning of October in the square and in the park in front of the town hall. The organizer of this event is the folklore-dance ensemble "Tisa." The aim of the event is to revive and preserve the old customs of autumn works in the field. During the three-day festival, children have the opportunity to participate in various competitions and games such as husking and kneading corn, making corn dummies and many other tasks. In the evening at the big stage in the city center, the bread is cut and parted. After sharing the new bread, there are numerous concerts and entertainment programs, and the festive program ends with firework.
