According to the legend, it was founded by King Dragutin at the end of the thirteenth century. The monastery is male and dedicated to Saint Demetrius. Its belfry is the the highest one in Srem, 38.6 meters high, and rises in the center. When you enter the monastery, you will be captivated by the lush gardens. Immediately to the left there is a small ethno village with several log cabins and a summer house that is made here for all people who want to rest and enjoy in nature. On the right side of the monasteryis the replica of the Bethlehem cave and the Sion hill with a chapel. There is also the source stream of the Ubavac, which is famous for its crystal clear water. During World War Two, the monastery was burnt down, and the monastery's treasury was mostly destroyed.
