Šišatovac Monastery

The monastery complex consists of a one-story floor, a monastery church and a chapel next to the cemetery located on a hill.

The monastery Šišatovac is located on Fruška gora. Nearby there is also a source of clean drinking water of the Remeta stream, which is named after the church that the monks from the monastery of Žiča founded there, running away from the Turks in the year of 1520. The origin of this monastery is bound for this event, because the monks tore down the little church dedicated to St. Nicholas and raised a new one devoted to the Birth of the Virgin. Since then it has been destroyed and renewed several times, in order to get its final form in the second half of the 18th century. The first thing that draws one’s eye is the size of the building that is further highlighted when compared to the surrounding country houses.
