The origin of this monastery is related to Dragutin from the line of Nemanjić. The monastery was built in the 13th century.
The monastery of Bešenovo is located in Bešenovac's Prnjavor. It is located at the very end of the village, next to the forest near the Čikoš stream. During World War Two it was badly damaged, remaining without a roof structure and some walls. Over time, the bricks were carried away, so that only the foundations of the monastery remained. At the end of the monastery a modest wooden chapel was built under a three hundred years old lime tree. The monastery was founded by the Serbian King Dragutin at the end of the thirteenth century and was dedicated to the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel. In 2013, the reconstruction of the monastery began.
