The fishing lake in Bečej is one of the largest heron habitats in the area.

The heron colony contains 865 nesting pairs and includes rare species such as the great white heron and spoonbill. It has been declared a Ramsar site and added to the IBA (Important Bird Area) list in 2000. It is an idyllic resting spot for bird and nature lovers.
