Deliblato Sands present 36 km long and 11 km wide area covered with sand, in the south-eastern part of Vojvodina, between the Danube and Karaš rivers. It was formed from the alluvial deposits of the rivers Karaš, Nera and Morava, and today it represents a part of the Danube flood area. The highest point of the surface with 75 m average altitude is Crni Vrh (195 m). The forest-steppe living world of the sands is unique: it consists of cormorants, a large number of migratory birds, autochthonous insect species and varied steppe vegetation. Because of the rich stock of game, it is also a favourite hunting ground. This area is the habitat of a protected species of wolf from Banat. Visitors of the dunes can rest in hotels in the towns of Kovin, 10 km away, and Pančevo, 30 km away, or in private houses of the settlement on the outskirts of the sands.
