Pharmacy on stairs

Pharmacy on the Stairs is the first and oldest pharmacy in Vršac, opened in 1784. and today it is part of the city museum, turned into an exhibition space.

The first and oldest pharmacy in Vršac is "Pharmacy on the Stairs", opened in 1784 as "Pharmacy at the Savior". Since 1927, the owner was Aleksandar Jovanović, a half-brother of the famous painter Paja Jovanović. The place where the pharmacy was located stayed a pharmacy until 1971. when, as part of the City Museum, it was turned into an exhibition space. In the area of this building of the Vršac city museum the following items can be found: exhibits on the history of health culture, memories of Paja Jovanović, the setting of objects found at this site from paleolithic to the middle ages, and exhibited medals from the 18th and 19th centuries. For art lovers, there is an interesting item about the painter Paja Jovanović, born citizen of Vršac. In this setting is the portrait of King Alexander in real-life size, which was regardomg tp Paja Jovanović considered to be the most baluable canvas after "Crowning of Emperor Dušan".
