The Rajhl palace is a masterpiece of the Hungarian Art Nouveau. It gives place to the Modern Art Gallery and it hosts the Fine Arts Meeting.
The Modern Art Gallery found in this building was founded in 1962. It safeguards more than 1200 works of art of the most prominent artists from the former Yugoslavia of the second part of the 20th century. Many paintings, graphic works, sculptures and ceramics can be seen. The gallery puts on solo and collective exhibitions, artists' performances and other artistic events. The Raichle Palace was designed by Reichle Ferenc in 1904. The playful colours and the facade makes it one of the masterpieces of Art Nouveau. The decoration is inspired by the Transylvanian folk art for which they used Zsolnay ceramics, Venetian glass, Murano mosaic and pink marble. The architect payed attention to the placement of the Palace as well: it is stands near the railway station and a park. The architecture and art lovers should definitely visit the Raichle Palace, whose special atmosphere will make you return to the past.
