September 1st is The Day of The City of Subotica in memory of the settlement’s Free Royal Town status gotten in 1779. The event which lasts for a few days is rich in cultural and sports programs, which are held at various spots in the city. The audience can enjoy listening to famous Serbian and Hungarian performers’ concerts in the beautiful Art Nouveau buildings. People can take part in the rowing competiton held on the mesmerizing Lake Palić or in a halfmarathon in the city centre. The visitors can discover Subotica through exciting programs, while celebrating The Day of The City with thousands of festive people.

National Theatre in Subotica
