Mala Remeta Monastery

Located in the stream valley, surrounded by an acacia forest, the monastery was founded by King Dragutin Nemanjić.

On the southern slopes of Fruška gora, near the location of Mala Remeta, there is a female monastery with the same name. It is also known as Remetsko or Remetica. Situated in the stream valley, surrounded by acacia forest, the monastery was founded by King Dragutin Nemanjić, and is dedicated to the of the Intercession of the Virgin Mary. What is characteristic of the monastery church is that it was built without Baroque influences, so it is an example of the Serbian-Byzantine style of architecture. The monastery was rebuilt several times, and the church itself never had a belfry. Today a belfry exists and is located right next to it, and it is made of wooden columns covered with a tin roof.
