Novi Sad Synagogue

The synagogue has a well-preserved secession style and often serves as a venue for concerts.

Novi Sad's most famous Art Nouveau memento is the synagogue's cluster of buildings - including the temple, ballet school and house of assembly. It was designed by Lipót Baumhorn and built from 1906 to 1909. Baumhorn arranged the auxiliary buildings in a symmetric fashion – the house of assembly was placed on the right side, while the school was built on the left side. The building has a modern feel thanks to its bright, rounded, clear shapes. Its immense cupola is held by four pillars, while the women's balconies are placed around the mid-section from three sides. The shrine wall is bordered by a large broken cupola and an organ balcony. The arcades, leaved pillars, chandeliers, and floral lead-glass showcase an eastern influence. The banisters leading up to the balcony have rectangular forms adhering to the style of 1903-1904. The synagogue is home to numerous concerts nowadays.
