The Fruška gora Marathon is a sport and leisure event where, in addition to the contestants, recreational sports enthusiasts and children with their parents are also welcome.
"Fruška Gora marathon is a sporting and recreational manifestation of an international character that is held on Fruška gora not far from Novi Sad. It is one of the oldest marathons of this type in Europe, which has been continuously maintained for more than four decades without interruption. There are 19 trails of different lengths and different height differences on the marathon. All of them are traced in the hilly, forest part of Fruška gora (97% forest / 3% urban environment). Along the path, each participant has the opportunity to see and pass through numerous medieval Serbian monasteries: "Grgeteg, Staro Hopovo, Novo Hopovo, Jazak, Bešenovo", as well as the concrete construction of a television relay destroyed in the NATO bombing in 1999 (so-called TV tower), Ethno settlement "Vrdnik tower", to overtake many streams, climbs to the highest peak of Fruška gora (539 m) and descends down the waterfall of the "Dumbovački stream". There are 14 recreational trails aimed at promoting ahealthy lifestyle and conservation of nature, as well as the preservation of cultural and historical heritage. There are 5 competition trails: Ultra Extreme Marathon, Ultra Marathon, Grand Eastern Marathon, Middle Eastern Marathon and Little Eastern Extreme Marathon. There is also a path of joy and pleasure where only children of preschool age can partake while being accompanied bz parents or other authorized adults.
